Workshop description

Web 3.0 and Metaverse have been perceived as the next iteration of the internet, supporting decentralized, persistent online 3-D virtual environments. This virtual space will be accessible through virtual reality and augmented reality personal devices (headsets, glasses, smart phones, PCs, game consoles), and connected to variety of services with advanced high bandwidth, low latency networks and cloud AI/ML computing capabilities. Photonic technologies will play vital roles in end user devices, ultrahigh-speed low-latency networks and cloud AI/ML computing supported by edge and mega data centers. In this workshop, we invited several industry leaders to discuss key photonic technologies enabling this new vision for future internet and applications.
